Sometimes also furniture designs can be crazy. First example of crazy furniture design is Good boy lamp by designer whatshisname. He was born in the eastern Poland in 1982. Today he lives and works in London, UK. His aim is to encourage the public to look at surrounding world and question it in derisive, jeering way. An alias “Whatshisname” is inspired by the Green Day song “Whatsername” from American Idiot album.

Downtown Design is happening next month as part of Dubai Design week. Taking place at the Dubai Design District and presenting a range of established and emerging brands including furniture, lighting, bathrooms, kitchens, textiles and accessories. We found some really interesting companies exhibiting last year and we can’t wait to see what is on show this year. We also get to see the new design district and how its developed since its opening.

Prickly pair chairs is a result of the creative experience of a Mexican designer in Europe. Valentina Gonzales Wohlers has designed them based on the classical French oval chair originated in the Rococo period during the reign of Louis XV and has since been adopted throughout central Europe. Although she added the Nopal cactus decorations to it to symbolize Mexican heritage and national pride. According to legend, the Gods told the Aztecs to build Tenochtitlan (now Mexico City) in the place they saw an eagle standing on a Nopal, devouring a snake. To this day, the image resides on the National Shield. The blend of these two iconographic elements allowed Valentina to create a very original pair of chairs. Don’t you think that cactus-inspired furniture become a new trend? These prickly pair chairs complement the Cactus Chair by Deger Cengiz and her  Cactus Stool.

Clearly, Dejana Kabiljo’s, er, hair chairs are not for those who are shy about home decor. The Croatian furniture designer lives in Vienna, where she runs Kabiljo Inc., and her PRETTYPRETTY collection features this very hirsute seat, as well as hairy stools and furry ottomans. Says their creator: “Pretty heads to sit on explore the nicely regulated erotic allure that surrounds us, tracing out the customary grammar of desire.” What? Who knows. But you know what would be totally awesome? A hair salon outfitted with these crazy hair furniture pieces. Check out more of the wackiness after the jump!
